The second edition of Voices of the Future weaves together nine short stories of courage and compassion in a diverse and heartwarming multi-genre collection. Experience the next generation’s creativity and vision through stories from rising young creatives.
Kasumi Sonoda’s piece, Chichi no Chikai: A Father’s Vow, is about an elderly samurai who must wrestle with the true meaning of honor and strength as he searches for a man to adopt as his heir.

Reader Reviews
“There are very few books I read that make me think, “Wow, that was exactly the book I didn’t realize I wanted – needed – to read.” Well, this was one of them:) These stories weren’t shallow – tales simply for the sake of adventure. But each of these stories tugged my heart in a different way and made me feel seen. Held. Encouraged and challenged.”
-Kenleaf on GoodReads
“I really loved this anthology! It was nice to have something a little shorter to read at the end of the day, and having multiple stories gave me the chance to slowly soak in each one over the course of multiple days.”
-Julia on GoodReads
“Not to be melodramatic, but works like this give one hope for our society. There are good stories yet to be told, there is beauty in life despite all our problems, and there are young people committed to building up rather than tearing down. This collection of original stories is a wonderful uplift and stark contrast with so much of what is prevalent in media.”

A Book For a Cause
“Publishing is a marathon; not a sprint, Kasumi.”
That’s what my school’s CEO, told me before this book launched.
Let me tell you. He. Was. Not. Kidding.
This anthology is the capstone project for The Author Conservatory Program. After studying Fiction for three years, we get to test our new skills on a real publication.
I and my eight fellow authors, threw ourselves into the challenge. We wrote and rewrote, worked with professional editors, reviewed and signed publishing contracts, built newsletters, made marketing plans, set up financial systems, learned how to do our taxes, organized street teams, planned launch parties, and did dozens of other parts. By the time the book came out, I had a much better grasp of the industry I was going into after graduation.
Also, the proceeds from this book go to a good cause!
All funds from purchases made on Amazon go back to The Conservatory and fund scholarships for future students. All funds from signed copies go back to the author who sold them.
My story Chichi no Chikai: A Father’s Vow is so near to my heart. The characters, the writing, and the dozens and dozens of lessons I learned which I’ll use in all my future publications! I hope you’ll grab a copy and enjoy my debut publication and support the continued work at my Alma Mater!
